A few days ago I asked family and friends to help out with a need that came to Mark and I's attention. It is to help a young women we have to come to know over the past 3 years through our groups staying at the retreat center where she works, her name is Rosa. Rosa is single, the mother of 3 and homeless. (She lives at the mission house where she works and her children with her parents because she has no place for them to be together.) Not an uncommon story here but..some stories become very personal because of relationships that are built with people. Rosa is personal to us! We love her! Her hard work and persistance to better her life inspires all who know her!
What I want to share is some of the responses I got to helping Rosa. I sent a brief e-mail asking for help to raise the funds to build Rosa a house. I know that to those I sent the e-mail, Rosa is just a name and I was just praying God would move hearts to help..because after all this was "my" cause....why should others care?
I know the people that responded did not do it for praise or recognition so I did not include names, but I need to share these few responses because they are so inspiring to me.
"Thanks for letting me be a part of this"
"thank you letting me know of a need I can help with"
"I would love to send a check for the house you hope to build"
"Let's build her a house!"
Don't you love that spirit! I guess it wasn't "my" cause at all..it was the spirit moving among all of us to glory of GOD!!!

you're awesome sister...blessed to know ya!!! a thousand of us have come to love rosa and run across this situation and you're the one who refused to allow it to continue. you're the one God chose to use and provide others a way to give. if i can do anything to help, let me know!
I finally got the chance to catch up on the blog. As always, your words inspired me. I love the way you described meeting Melvin ... "Oh, there you are." ...
And isn't that how GOD works. He brings something to our life that allows everything to make sense ... It's an 'of course' moment ... a 'there you are.' I feel blessed to have experienced you and Melvin together, because it truly is a relationship that could have only come for the love of GOD.
I miss and love you so much!
Carly
