Work in Santa Ana

Day 2 has come and gone already!!! It is always amazing how fast the time goes here. As the saying goes "time flys when your having fun" and we are having fun!
I guess to start this blog entry I need to do a little back ground information so it will make a little more sense.
2 months ago IRC which is the parent organization of Torch and Mi Esperanza purchased a piece of land in the small sleepy little Honduran village of Santa Ana. The land was purchased as part of a larger dream to continue to provide long term assistance to the people of Honduras. Within te nextt few moths and the next year we will be opening a clinic, a children's home , the 2nd Mi Esperanza training center, a church and 10 duplexes for a small community. Since we just purchased the land there is much work to be done so our team woke early and headed to the property to lend a hand in the progression of the work. What will be exciting is when this team returns next summer to see this property in full swing and serving 100's of honduran people.
With a quick stop at the IRC warehouse to pick up a block making machine, we then started our trip 25 Kilometers out of the city. Nestled in the magestic coutryside of Honduras it is a beautiful ride.
When we arrived we all went in several directions and started several jobs. Image hosted by Photobucket.comOne of the first thing we had to do was unload the block maker we picked up...well,, that sounds easy huh? Well wrong.....it weighs about 1000 pounds and it was on a truck and we had not lifting equiptment to get it off. So Mark, Tim, Tony, Norman, Jr, David, Rick, and well every guy around final got it off the truck!Image hosted by Photobucket.com We had a crew led by David B working in the clinic, which is a 50 year old adobe building we are renovating. Adam, Elizabeth, Melanie, Garrett and Owen parrish began cutting and installing wood planks to create a new ceiling. We also had a crew working on a retaining wall. This hard back breaking work but that did not scurrrr our ladies!!! The Lisa and Lisa team, Bethany, Kathryn, Saffiya, JoJayne all grabed a shovel and got busy!!! Image hosted by Photobucket.comWe had Jr. Prine rewiring the clinic and David and Norman working on plumbing. Elise became our fruit tree climber and was rather good I might say, this girl does not back away from a challange!!! Of course Rachel found some children to play with and handed out enough gum to secure the need for a future dental clinic!
It was great to see the group arrive at the property and begin to see the vision for what God is creating in this place and jump in to have a part in making it all happen.
Late in the morning Mark and I left Santa Ana and headed for the airport to pick up the 2nd half of our group. The Louisville and Miami team members arrived with problem and we had 4 young men arrive, a day late, but they did find their way to Tegucigalpa! After an orientation with our new arrivals and a great meal we all headed for Devo as a total group. The singing was amazing and is always good for the spirit!
We were reminded of our mission here Matt 5: 31-40 For I was hungry...... Take time to read this passage. This is the walk of those who follow the Christ. Please pray for those God will put before us and for us to do all in the name of the Lord while showing His emense love for his people!
Good things are happening!!!

Rachael,
Hey! How are yall doing with the weather? Some people came back to church today that were there to tell us about the drout you've been having...haha, or lack there of! I know that no amount of rain, hail, or God forbid in Honduras, SNOW, could ever stop you from accomplishing what you set out to do each day! I was thinking about you today because there is a new Coca-Cola song that came out, or maybe its Pepsi, but it reminded me of you. You better be finding girls (or guys) to get with you and sing it to carry on the tradition. I cant wait to see and hear about your trip when you get back. AND yes...you can say you told me so...I do wish I was there with all of you. But hey, someone has to keep the fire for God blaz'n in AL!! right? Oh, I saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith tonight...YOU'LL LOVE IT AND IT'S A "MUST SEE"!!! ...sorry so long Lori (this is probably illegal)
Much love, Hales
