OK, I admit it......

..... I am green!

Lately I have really felt a frustration about the waste and abuse of our world. Everywhere I look I see new buildings going up, structures being torn down only to build something new, undeveloped land cleared of all the trees to build more and bigger houses, country clubs, theme parks (which only serve to keep people out.) Our cars are getting bigger, faster which only means the use of more gas. Our houses are getting bigger which only means more energy to run them. We build and buy toys for our own enjoyment that use energy and pollute our environment. I am just convinced we will not be happy until ever tree is gone and all our resources are gone or polluted.

Ok so I am no longer ashamed or embarrassed to be green..call me a tree hugger, it is ok!!!!
I am a recycle-er, I hate waste (of anything), I always try to think of ways to reuse stuff. I hate packing peanuts and bubble wrap, use popcorn!, I hate junk mail and over done product packaging, I hate to see land developed for selfishness and materialism. I care about the extinction of animals and the lose of their natural environments. I worry about the air we breathe and whether my grandchildren will see the wonder of God's creation and all of it's beauty.

God created the world..And we are only a part of that creation. Have you ever thought of how connected we are to creation? Have you ever noticed how your body is effected by weather, or how people get crazy around a full moon? We cannot seperate ourselves from the rest of creation. We have a responsibility to the well being of creation as we do our own bodies. I wonder what God thinks about what we have done.

Creation is for everyone and is everyone.....alot of what we build just keeps people out or uses the resources that are for all only to indulge a few.
We, for far to long, have lived as if God made this world as a playground (those of us who can afford a playground), for our own desire and pleasure. God never intended for us to take possession of the creation, only live in harmony with it! The creation speaks of the glory of God and sings His praises. With each mall, and self indulgence are we taking pieces of that majesty away? God is not going to recreate the world.....So if we destroy it, we will live without it!

How does it feel to come out as a "Green"? :)

Well, I hope you feel like you are in good company, because I shouted amen to everything in this post.

But, I know from my own experience how hard it can be to be "green" in some circles.

Why it's "liberal" and "new age," ain't it?

Uh, no, as you point out well in this post, it's actually "good stewardship."

Peace my Alabaman/Honduran/"Green" sister. :)
