A walk after the rain

well I knew it had been quite awhile but I didn't realize it had been soooo long, not sure anyone is still reading but, anyway...

Yesterday I went for my walk after a brief rain. I walk a nature trail at the local Y that winds down by a river and is really quite peaceful and beautiful. As I hit the trail I immediately began to notice the nature around me. The trees were greener, they were heavy with rain droplets and hung over the trail that gave me a sense I was deeper in the woods than I was. The scent of the honeysuckle was strong and intrusive and birds chirped loud as if rejoicing for the rain. I saw two turtles [in a compromising] position and a crane walking on the river bed. The rain had come and gone and life went on. The landscape was different, ever so slightly, but different just the same.

I guess storms do that..they heighten your awareness. They shake things up, just enough. I think "storms" make me look at my surrounding differently whether I want to or not. Like yesterday, it can just be a light rain but the effect is the same as with a major storm.
I have experienced some BIG storms in my life that I have been hanging on as I watched my whole world shift before my eyes..but sometimes it's just a light rain and you step out one day and it all looks different. I just want to be one of those birds chirping with praise.
