some one tell me to go play....

My "survival" job is teaching pre-K..I do love it, I get MUCH joy from my children..they teach me so much.

I am the kind of teacher that really tries to teach my kids to deal with real life...I don't "baby" them, love them yes, but I do not baby them. I try really hard to teach them to be confident and respect themselves.

sooo...here is what my post is really about..here is a often typical conversation I have with my kids

Joseph "miss Lori, Ethan called me a baby"

miss Lori "Joseph are you a baby?"

Joseph "no, But Ethan says I am "

miss lori "Is what Ethan is saying true?"

Joseph "no, but he says I am"

miss lori "Joseph, does Ethan saying you are a baby make you one?"

Joseph "no"

miss Lori "Joseph if you know you are not a baby then don't worry about what others say, it's ok..now go play!"

It is so hard when others call you a "baby". It has been a rough couple of weeks...I have struggled with the feelings of rejections, anger, sadness, woundedness (is that a word) disbelief and unvalidated. It is hard not hear the words of others and not let them effect you...they do!
I have just needed someone to tell me "it's ok...go play

am I wrong to tell my kids it's that easy????

miss lori,

am so sorry it's been a hard couple weeks. just wanted to take a minute to remind you that God says, you are royal, holy, chosen, and His!!! in the moments when "life" and the voices of others get deafening and my heart hurts that has become my mantra...ok God right now I don't feel it...but this is what you say and that's truth and 5 minutes later...ok God right now I don't feel it, but this is what YOU say and that's truth...well you get the point.

aside from all the awesome things He says about you...there are a whole lot of us who think you're pretty stinkin wonderful too!! don't forget that!

LOVE YOU. me
