Rosa, Manuel and Angelica
All of us!
6 days and a lot of hands and love Rosa's house is finished! I have to say it is a great house and one that I am so proud of for Rosa! Each day of work we had the help of Rosa and her children and brothers. It was great to work along side of them as they invested themselves into their home. Her little boy Manuel is a sweetheart and took seriously the construction of his house....He is hard working and did everything from hauling wood to nailing to wood staining, there was nothing he wouldn't do. It was cool to think of the memories he will have of building is own house and the pride he can feel having been a part of the work. Angelica, Rosa's daughter, just smiled when she looked inside and realized that she would have a bed room! In Rosa's words...Todo es perfecto" (everything is perfect)! She is thankful for the space the house will provide for them, it was humbling to see her joy at a 3 room house and thinking it was SOOO much space for 3 people! Could I be so happy with so little? Thank you to everyone who made this possible for them!
Scripture says; if you have faith the size of a mustard seed that it will move a mountain. I believe Rose saw that scripture in action.....Literally!
Day 4
Construction began on the house and it was the biggest house any of us had constructed! We had the help of several people from the Torch group that was here..We were grateful for the extra hands! Because of lay of the land the front post had to be set 5 feet into the ground and because of the size of the size of the house there were 13 posts across the front of the house. The house size brought it's share of challenges through out the building process as you will see in some of the photos....But hey....Nothing easy is ever worth having!!! We made great progress our first day!

Day 5
Today, in the early morning clouds, Mark, Joe, Melissa, Pk and I went as we started, just the five of us to put the final touches on the house. It was nice to be their together on the final day. We went back to frame out the windows, and the corners of the house and stain the framing. The final touches really made the house look beautiful.
As I worked today with 4 people that I have spent the summer serving with....And are connected with in this place I felt so blessed to be a part of this work. I felt joy that God allowed me to take part hand in this blessing on Rosa and her family. There is peace in being where God is working!
