Hope

It is hard for me to believe I have been here for nearly a month already...Time seems to fly by..But I do like the fact that I never know what day it is, that is a cool feeling.

My work here at Mi Esperanza continues to fill my heart with joy. I love waking in the morning to the ladies in the sewing co-op working and the salon class running and how all day the house is filled with women given an opportunity to change their lives and the lives of their families.
The women who come to us are many be the stories are few..The stories are all to similar. Women who have and continue to live through abuse and oppression with no hope, no hope of that changing because they have no choices and noone who will hear their plea for help.
Over and over I hear how women are simply thankful just for an opportunity to change their lives..I know that not every women that comes through our doors will really take advantage of what she is offered but for those who do...they see life differently and their future is hopeful. That is what Mi Esperanza (my hope) is all about! (www.thewomenofmyhope.org)

In the NT we read of how Jesus brought hope! He brought hope to those who had no where else to turn, with a touch or a word life was different.

"To me faith in Jesus Christ that is not aligned to social justice-that is not aligned with the poor-it's nothing" Bono

The women here are real, they are flesh and blood! They really are women forgotten by the world and society around them. With every turn they are knocked down by life circumstances. They are women who live life in a mode of simple survival in it's rawest form. Over three years ago GOD put a vision in my heart and a burden of love for the women here that weighs heavy on my soul...

As believers and follower of Jesus it [IS] up to us to demand better for the oppessed.. I call us to become beacons of hope to those who have none.

Jesus raised people upand sent them away strong and with a new sense of hope!!! Let us find ways raise people up to find dignity and love in a world that has told them they are nothing.

I love how God is still changing the lives of those with no hope!
