We had the joy of seeing them in their new concrete house! Bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom, running water. A long way from a community named Union Y Frueza. Marta and Denises story is another one that is a testament to God's people acting and lives changing forever.
There are many people in this story with us; all those who support Mark and I's ministry in Honduras, my daughter Ryan, my niece Carly, Tim, Joe, David and with each expression of love this family has experienced God's provision.
Something I have learned is that ministry here is slow, it's steady, it is a committment for the long haul and it is amazing. Whenever we visit Honduras our first impression is that of panick, how can we change what we see...and how can we do it NOW. God has taught me to simply love, act and He will take care of the rest, even when I don't know what to do!
Marta and Denis are an example of that...
A new house
A concrete floor
new beds
a wedding
a business of their own
a family who loves them
Another thing I have learned is that we can only help if our goal is not to gain glory or make ourselves more than we are but to help were they cannot to provide opportunity and move people to a place of self dependance. It is easy to feel "big" & "powerful" but that is ungodly and harmful to those we seek to help. It is easy to want to "just take of them" But that is not what they need.
Our ministry with Denise and Marta continues as we attempt to help Denis learn to run his own business with the goal that we can let go and know they can live on their own and break a cycle of poverty.

That sounds to me like the attitude that all who minister should take to ministry wherever they do it. That is awesome stuff. Thanks.
