Today part of our team left us :( 15 team members headed back to the states..Norman and Lisa, Rick and Lisa, Nicki, Melissa, Bob and Norma, Elizabeth, Adam, Tony, Sayffia, John, Darrel and Susie. We will miss all these folks. They were an important part of the awesome team we have the year. Everyone worked so hard and contributed so much to the work that was accomplished.
We made a quick stop at the pewter store and in 45 mins this crew did some power shopping. I had to keep reminding them they were getting on a plane..and they had a weight limit. They are coming home with some awesome things...Maybe you will be a lucky recipient!
It is hard to imagine that with the abundance of food we live with daily that there are families, babies, children that do not eat every day. How that must break a mother's heart to know her children are hungry and have no way to feed them. This am a small group stayed back at the mission house to pack food for 200 more families. Next week we will be brining the food to the community of San Miguel. The package each family receives will feed a family for about 4 weeks. For most homes the cabinets will be bare when we arrive and this food will be an answer to prayer. Providing food even for a short time is so important because for 1 month mothers, fathers, children will know they will eat each day. "Give us our daily bread" The families here truly live that prayer, day to day.

Early in the trip I blogged about our work in Santa Ana at the new property. Today we continued some work on the property. There is so much work to be done to prepare for the ministry that will begin soon in Santa Ana.

Rachel Fowler did physical work today!!!!!! It may be days before she recovers we are watching her closely! She was quickly reminded of why she plays with kids and has no plans of picking up another tool!!!

Jr Prine has devoted much time to re-wiring the building that will soon be a clinic. Today Jr and David and their team continued this big job. Jr was using his excellent Spanish skills to communicate with some local workers. He is really good at making tool sounds to tell them what to do....Like "dos, vroom vroom :) His new favorite word is poopas. Shhhh, that is actually Papusas!!! We finished putting up a new ceiling in one of the clinic rooms,

shoveled and moved gravel for the brick maker. (Dennis will be making all the brick for all our buildings.)

We also worked on digging the footers for the first two duplexs for housing(these houses will be given free to the needy),

moved rock to line the banks of a creek, to help contain the water. New BUFF TRUCKS where awarded today to Melanie J, Elise and Melissa W for moving rocks half their body weight!! You go girls!!!!

Although the work here is very different than being on a mountain in a community it is so important to the big picture of help Torch provides. The ministries here will provide long term assistance to many and become home to orphaned children and needy families.

I mentioned Dennis our block maker and I would like to tell you the amazing "Torch" story of this family. A couple of years ago a Torch group built Dennis, Marta, Dennis Jr., and Christian a Torch house. That summer while our group was working in their village of Union E Frueza Marta met two of our Torchers Ryan Hernandez and Carly Hopkin (my daughter and niece). They began talking and became fast friends, they fell in love with Marta. We found that Marta and her family were still living in their old house behind the new one that was little bigger than an outhouse. It was falling down around them. We of course we inquired about why they were not living in their new house. Marta told us that her new house was full of mosquitoes because the floor would not dry out, and it was not healthy for her boys. Marta's house is near a creek. They were trying to save the money for the for supplies to put in a concrete floor. So Ryan and Carly, David Blackwell and a few others laid a concrete floor for them and they have been living in their Torch house ever since and have been very happy. Because Marta became so close to my daughter and niece of course she became very special to me. You see Marta has no parents, her father murdered her mother when Marta was 5 and Marta, witnessed the event and was on the streets at the age of 6. She lived a life of survival and abuse most of her life. When she met her husband her life began to change. God was always close to her.
Over the past years Marta and her family have become family to Mark and I and loved by many who know them through the work of Torch. Now Dennis is now employed by Torch and they will be receiving one of the new houses that are being built on the property, and worked on by our group. Santa Ana will be a wonderful place to raise their boys. Marta told Rachel that "they would be living like stars" and she most excited about having a real kitchen.

Today Marta and the boys helped us work on the footers to their new home. It was a joy to have them around.

When I think of where we found Marta and where she is now I am reminded of the lives that are being changed forever through the mission work here in Honduras. Marta and Dennnis are living God's promise of "all you can ask or imagine"
Good things are happening!
OHHHH HAVE I mentioned MUD today!!!!

Look out!!! Physical work? Those blisters are tough to recover from, make sure you get plenty of rest:) It sounds like the rain might be letting up but I know the mud is still there I don't think yall could be there at a better time for all those people than right now. Hope everything else is well. Oh yeah "Godfather" drove all the way back to Bham to see "Junior" this weekend. Praying for all of yall - Edwards

Hey Girl. I just wanted to hey and I hope you all are having a wonderful time. I miss you tons but i know you are where you need to be. The horseback riding went well but lets just say that I'm glad its not our primary means of transportation! Thank God for technology and the invention of the wheel which led us to the automobile!:) Being th country girl that I am ;) of course i got Mario Andretti of the horse population and mine preferred galuping to walking so he was trying to pass all the other riders. Needless to held on for dear life and made it through the hour and a half. Since the age limit was seven to ride i figured it wouldnt look to good if i backed out last minute!;) Well cant wait to hear from you, take care and im thinking about you!

Goodness, that boulder must weigh as much as you do! It's almost as big anyway. Be careful; am sure you are. We are getting some of your rain but we need it. Tell Melissa the cats want to go out anyway, esp. Psycho Morgan! Take care and have a fun off day today; get lots of rest. Love to all of you guys, Aunt Linda W.
Rach,
Physical labor? I'm glad they got a picture or I wouldn't believe it. It sounds like all of you are having fun. Be safe. You aren't missing much in the ham as far as weather goes. We just sat through the first hurricane / tropical storm of the year yesterday. We'll see you at the farm next weekend.
Rory
Jo Jayne:
Today was one of those days that make all the work and the expense of the pool worthwhile. There were a total of 19 of our brothers, sisters, and children here at one point (Tim & Tracy, Theron & Sarah, Greg & Wendy, Harold, and Steve, plus 11 children). It was great.
You would have enjoyed Life Group. Harold did another session of the marriage series. My ribs would have been sore from all the jabbing!
Haven't seen Saffiya but got a couple of calls. Her 7-year old cousin in NJ was hit by a bus and apparently is in very serious condition, so she went up there for a few hours. Should be home shortly.
Miss you...and LORI...thanks for the posts. They are wonderful!
HEY there TORCHERS!!
Sounds like the weather is looking up for you guys. We had 12 days of continuous rain so we understand...however we weren't trying to build people houses in the midst of it. Remember that even if the houses you thought you would build don't get built, God still has a big purpose for you there, His purpose. :)
We were dry today finally after the first tropical storm of the season passed by us. Luckily it missed us...however I am afraid this hurrican season we won't be so lucky. :(
We are thinking of you guys everyday and we enjoy the posts!
Junior!!! I am so happy that your Spanish is coming along! Sounds awesome...vrooom vroom....(JC really enjoyed that)!!!!
HIALEAH CREW:
Missing you guys. Church was good today. Mark, we saw Rachel and her mom there again. I bet she is happy to not be alone while you are gone!
MARK AND LORI:
Miss you guys! Call me soon so I can update ya on stuff!!!! Give my love to Dennis, Marta and the boys okay!?!?! Did you tell her about Carly getting baptized? I am sure she would like to hear that. Tell them we can't wait to see their new house! :)
Love to everyone and keep up the good work.

Hi Mom (aka Melissa Wood)
How can we be outdone by that dog, Otis! Who does he think he is anyway. Just because he is by himself and has to have a babysitter come over does not mean that he gets top billing. That little brown haired girl must be something else. Grandmommy goes on and on about how cute she is!! Miss you; hurry home. Meows and purrs, Morgan & Logan

To Tyler, Chris and Brian,
This blog is a great idea. I can tell by reading how hard you guys are working. I have not heard of any terrible accidents or any bad illnesses so I know God is watching over you. I have missed you three very much, but I know you have done a lot of good deeds for a lot of people in this short time. So I am very proud of you. Grandmom Nancy

Hey owen!
today was our first real day of summer track, it was pretty fun. coach P. is in Germany so coach H was the sub. I hardly did anything & I'm dying! I'm back @ square one again & I was really upset, but then my mom found out that Coach Huber would work with kids individually, so she asked him if he would help me & he said he would! I'm so excited! I might actually be able to get better now! Today, maddison, Lauren, Brittany, Matthew, & me all went to see Mr. & Mrs. Smith, it was really good! I wish you could have been there! My sister glued her fingers together with super glue! she couldn't get them appart! it was Hysterical!
missing ya bunches!
Sarah Kathryn
Hey Scoob,
Hope everything is still going good. Hopefully it still isn't raining. I'm on the coast this week and the heat has gotten here. I ate lunch with Grandman & Callie today. They said to tell you hi and to callwhen you get home. Looking foward to Saturday. Stay safe.
Love,
Dad
Hi Melissa, Have not heard anything in a few days and as time is running out, thought that I would send another msg. Today was really hot here; could feel the humidity when I walked outside. Bryan tried to cut the stump off earlier but his chain saw was too weak; did better with the ax until the handle flew off! Chris said he would call the guy he knows; was supposed to have already! Take care and will see you soon. Love, Mom (Linda W)
Joel,
I miss you. I have been spending lots of time at the office. Dad has been mowing our yard. Mom is moving the furniture all over her house. Tell Brett I think that she is much better - back to her old self. We went to Jaden's game last Friday night and went out to dinner with your mom and dad. We all miss you. Tell Brett and Jordan hello. We look forward to your safe return on Saturday. Love you. Michele
Rachael Fowler Family & Friends:
Hello all of my dedicated "Bloggers!" I'm sorry I haven't made many postings, but it is literally a knock-down drag-out to use the computer....and after all the BINGO I've been playing, not to mention my one day of physical labor, I just haven't had it in me to fight the others to Blog.
But things are going wonderful and I'm having an incredible time as always!! Tomorrow will be our last day at San Miguel, and I'm already feeling the sadness. I have fallen in love with so many of the kids and I know it's going to be so hard to leave them, as it is EVERY year. So please keep all of us in your prayers tonight and tomorrow because the last day is always a rough one...physically and emotionally.
**Kess & LTK- Can't wait to see you guys at the ATL Airport on Saturday...I've missed you SOO MUCH! Leah, how about that Spanish!! Have you been studying while I've been gone? And LTK, 3" heel to walk in a mine...come on, really!! And who signs their blog messages "Roses"??
**Mom, Dad, Rory & Shope- Thanks for all the messages!! Can't wait to show you all the pics and the video. And as always I have tons of stories!!
**Dana & Chris- Thanks for the messages, but Dana, I never knew you were so computer-challenged?! Chris, thanks for takin care of Squirt, I know he appreciates it too! Can't wait to see you guys!!
**Dana ("York")- Glad to here everything is okay in AU! Please tell Kev I said hey! I would love for you guys to come to B'ham and hang out with me!! Can't wait to see you....I miss you BUNCHES!!
**Linds & Jenna- Thanks for your notes!! Guess it's a good thing we went to Spanish class sometimes....it's paying off, LOL!! Linds, sorry to hear you've been sick, but hope you're starting to feel better!! Jenna, I love your messages in Spanish, they're great!! It's even funnier that no one else knows what they say! But for real, the last one was really sweet!! Can't wait to see and talk to both of you! Take care!
**To All My Past Torch Members- It's not the same without you....but we're making it! To my girls, nights in the dorm aren't near as crazy and eventful as they were when we were together....and I desperately miss the "Coca-Cola Song," "Stay," and "Going To The Chaple"...however, the rest of the group says they are very thankful..hahaha!!
I guess I should wrap this up, seeing as I have SOO MANY messages from all of you and everyone is so jealous! I'd hate to take up more space and them have to look through more to find their people...LOL!! Thanks again for all the messages and prayers! I miss all of you and can't wait to see you! (I sent out an email so if you didn't get it, try to get someone to forward it to you!!)Take care of yourselves and please keep us in your prayers as we wrap up another year!! I love you all!!
Love ALWAYS!!

Hi Rachy! I was so excited to see e-mails from you and I'm glad to know that you are still alive and kickin'!! But oh well a girls gotta make money to support her shopping habbits :)! I know you are doing amazing work and bringing those children and families something that means so much to them and I am so proud of you. I'm really impressed too...I don't know if I could do what you and the group are doing. Anyways I really can't wait for you to come back!! Are you stopping in Auburn at all on you way to the farm?? Well if not, I will totally understand I know how exhausted you are. Sorry this is so long but I love you and miss you!!
